The school offers undergraduates three majors including pharmacy, pharmaceutical engineering and clinical pharmacy, which cover the whole process of drug discovery, drug manufacture and drug use. Among these, pharmacy was made the key major by the Ministry of Education in 2007. Each year the school enrolls about 150 undergraduates and there are totally 600 undergraduates in the school now.
Pharmacy
The major of Pharmacy aims to develop scientists who possess a blend of contemporary basic science skills and an understanding of their role in the development of new drugs. Students are trained to be engaged in pharmaceutical and scientific research. They will be able to work in the areas of drug design, synthesis, pharmacological experiments and evaluation, drug formulations and preparation, drug dosage form design and analysis test, quality identification, preparation of pharmacy, and clinical rational drug use.
The graduates are required to be familiar with the commonly used medicine, pharmacology, pharmaceutical affairs management and regulations; Identify the relationship between the drug structure, properties and biological activity and have the ability of drug synthesis and pharmaceutical preparation; Master the basic knowledge of gene engineering and molecular biology, the basic method of pharmacodynamics and safety evaluation of drugs; Have a certain ability of new drug research and development.
Main courses
Inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, natural medicine chemistry, drug analysis, pharmacokinetics, pharmacy, pharmaceutical affairs management, biology, pharmacology, introduction to clinical medicine, computer application, information retrieval, computer aided drug design, etc.
Experimental practice
In the fifth semester, students participate in one-week practice which is the field work of medicinal botany. Graduation internship is divided into production practice and project practice.
In the sixth semester, students participate in 4-week production practice in hospitals and medicine inspecting institutes. In the eighth semester, students participate in 15-week project practice mainly carried out in the scientific research units and pharmaceutical factory or in research institute of the school.
Methods of assessment
Assessments include unseen examinations, practical reports, essays, presentations, problem solving, placement report and project report.
Length of schooling: four years
Degree: Bachelor of Science
Pharmaceutical Engineering
Based on the pharmaceutical Sciences and pharmaceutical engineering skills, the major of Pharmaceutical engineering aims to train talents in the area of biological medicine, chemical medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. The students are equipped with basic knowledge and experiment skills, strong analysis ability, comprehensive ability and independent problem-solving skills, qualified for medical innovation in the field of biotechnology and pharmaceutical engineering research, development, production and management.
Main courses

Clinical Pharmacy
Clinical pharmacy (7 years) is a new major in China adapted to the national health care system reform and the needs for clinically rational drug use. The establishment of the major is based on reference to the clinical pharmacy curriculum of 5-medical-year in China and that of the United States, Britain, Japan and other countries with mature clinical pharmacy curriculum system. About 30 students have been enrolled every year since 2003.
The students are expected to be able to participate in clinical case analysis and the design and evaluation of drug treatment, engage in clinical research and clinical trials of new drugs. They can engage in teaching or research work in hospital, medical and health institutions, universities, research institute and government departments.
Main courses
Human anatomy, embryology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmaceutical chemistry, analytical chemistry, cell biology, pathology, physiology, pharmacology, medicine, immunology
