Biography of the Speaker:
Dr. Sun was a research scientist at Pfizer prior to his pharmacy career, and received the Pfizer Global Research and Development Excellence Award in 2002, and Pfizer Above and Beyond Award in 2005. He received his PharmD from Creighton University and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. He has eight years’ experience as a clinical pharmacy specialist providing direct patient care in emergency departments. He established comprehensive emergency pharmacy services at Yale New-Haven Hospital- Saint Raphael Campus. In 2011, he took an academic position as an assistant professor at the College of Pharmacy, Western New England University.
His current research includes emergency care, therapeutic drug monitoring, drug overdose, and pharmacy education. He has published peer reviewed articles, including one book (chief-editor). He was awarded educational grants from BTG, Inc on drug overdose education in 2014 and 2015, and was the recipient of the College of Pharmacy Excellence in Scholarship award in 2014. For the past 2 years, Dr. Sun has been delivering presentations at pharmacy and emergency medicine conferences both within and outside of the United States. He speaks on topics ranging from clinical pharmacy service to pharmacy education.
Dr. Sun is a member of the Advisory Group on Emergency Care- American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Clinical Toxicology/Drugs of Abuse Scientific Committee-International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology, and a member of the Division of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring- Chinese Pharmacological Society.
