The institute is mainly engaged in researches on medicinal plants and crude drugs. At present, there are five staff members, including one professor, two associate professors, one lecturer, and one laboratory technician. Two staff members are master’s supervisors with an annual intake of 2-3 graduate students.
The research interests mainly focus on the quality control and bioactive constituents of crude drugs, as well as new drug development from these natural materials. To date, we have undertaken such comprehensive research on Rehmannia glutinosa, Portulaca oleracea, Lonicera japonica, Chrysanthemum morifolium and Trichosanthes kirilowii etc. The institute also undertakes six courses including Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Botany.
Research output: This institute has undertaken six projects supported by the National Natural Science Fund of China, 5 projects at provincial and ministerial level, and more than 10 other projects. About 5-10 scientific papers are published, and 1-3 patents are applied every year.
